Thanks for your Glastonbury and other days out comments as I feel exactly the same - I’ve always thought that maybe I’m a massive grinch but festivals/lots of people/heat/travel/camping events leave me completely cold and even did when I was in my teens and twenties. And I don’t regret them at all. Do what grabs your heart not what other people say is fun. I could also do without the people who go to Glastonbury talking about it as if it’s the second coming of the lord 🤓when it’s a festival. 😊
I would quite like to go, just to experience it, but just for one day and with access to nice loos and to be driven in and out and not have to queue ….
Oh grass seeds are a nightmare! My dog has been covered in them lately. But she doesn’t mind being brushed too much. I had a quick search and came across this so Hope you find it helpful
I love rosé so your Biggins suggestion has me feeling very conflicted and a bit peculiar (not in a good way)
This is a ridiculous question but would Dennis tolerate being hoovered/dust-bustered/blow dried? He'd have to be OK with noise but if the brushing issue is tangles/snags then it could perhaps work. This suggestion is entirely based on lessons learned from childhood guinea pig grooming, so I would quite understand if it's beneath Dennis's dignity.
Hahahaha this is funny, thank you! He quite likes coming and standing next to me when I'm drying my hair, because he thinks the odd blast of air is a fun game. But not sure I could do much more than that. Someone here has suggested a brush with a comb, and then a treat, then another brush, then a treat. So I think I just need to work on his hairbrush aversion slowly and patiently...
Hard no to festivals - vicarious attempt when son went once - it’s just horrible, can’t bring self to do the wet wipes/disgusting loos etc and can’t afford the “glamping” or weird eating. Surely the music is way more enjoyable at other places? It’s not as though the tickets are even affordable!
Frankly gobsmacked that nobody has married you for your gorgeous house, let alone your wit and wisdom!
Envious of your mother having enough space to pin those curtains out! And get used to it; overwhelming love for household items is perfectly normal for the over 40s.
I used to be taken to Badminton horse trials as a pony-mad child in the 70s and 80s. By the time I was 16 I can remember complaining about the crowds, the queues, and the fact that nobody actually wanted to watch the horses for some strange reason. Not one iota of desire for Glasto despite being an efficient camper after a decade of farting about with old cars and tents all summer long.
As a long-time devotee of Glastonbury, how does your sister feel about what it has become? Is there some grumbling from the old-timers about influencers and crowds and how it's not the scrappy festival it used to be? We are currently under a "heat dome" in my part of the United States - it will be 39 degrees celsius for a high today - so I am definitely in a stay-at-home, avoid sweaty crowds, sip on chilled white wine mood.
Brightening up Tuesday as ever! Love your curtains - your Mother is a diamond - and the lampshade - is it Melanie Lewis? Dennis enjoying his new diversion! Found something else for him today will send pic on Instagram! 👌
Fabulous piece. Thanks for taking the trouble. Re Dennis and being brushed. Same with mine/remarkably similar. The brushing has to be rewarded obvz. V small area to start followed immediately with a treat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat increasing the area incrementally.

V interesting piece on Glastonbury in the Independent https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/glastonbury-pay-to-play-loss-making-acts-bookers-backstage-workers-b2774672.html

That was a really interesting read, I’d no idea of all the angst. Thanks for the link.
Weird AI pic - why has the sad woman got three arms?
It's just what they came up with, bizzare!
So she can still hold her wine while being told to “come on Glastonbury put your hands in the air!” by every band on Earth.
I haven’t experienced true FOMO since my early 30s. Now I’m all about staying in and missing out.
Also I need to read that rose entry.
STAYING IN 💘💘💘 (I just get a pang every now and then when it feels like the whole world is at eg Glastonbury)
And this one offers some alternatives to brushing (sort of) :

Onwards & Sideways Rose: what everyone will be drinking at home while they watch Glasto/Wimbledon on the telly!
I would lovvvvvvve that.

No Glastonbury, but I’m very spoiled on the Isle of Wight, where I can go to the music festival but sleep in my own bed!
Thanks for another entertaining round-up.
The “poo” story and Dennis 🥰🥰🥰
Poor woman!

I think she's a lifelong fan no matter what it becomes really. And I saw that online and thought we had it bad with 32 last week in london!

Ah no it's from the most brilliant women - bloomsbury revisited. Can't recommend them enough.

Yes this makes the most sense to me THANK YOU. I think he and I are going to need quite a lot of patience...😬
