If someone crushes your bag in the overhead locker, can you commit murder? What is the best holiday game? And who can you legitimately ask to suncream your back?
That you will (rightly) condemn “holibobs” but then grant safe passage to “savvy b” means I’ll forever be a square peg in your circles. Maybe I just need to chillax.
🤣🤣🤣 love these! My husband and I absolutely miss our cat when we are away as if he is a person and look forward to kisses and cuddles when we get home, so I think the dog thing is understandable. 😘
I am totally with you on leaving the dog ache. I miss mine even if it is just for a day. Yes, we are utterly codependent. That holiday sounds divine I must say.
Brilliant. Have you ever tried Catan? My animals and other family became obsessed with it in Greece recently, so much so that we tried to upgrade our seats to the platinum area on a ferry so we could have a table to play on but they were full so we took over the empty children’s play area and sat on the floor to play it until a toddler walked past with a harried mum and we felt guilty so we packed up without finishing the game. All to no avail sadly because as soon as we vacated the area some teenagers took it over.
Perfect read this morning. I love the Bodelian gift shop, that’s my browsing sorted for the day. I hate flying so much, and the whole stress around travelling in general, that I’ve decided I’m never leaving the UK again!
On a recent Ryanair flight to Tenerife the couple in front of me managed about 5 small bottles of wine and multiple whiskies- each. The amazing flight attendant was the best salesperson I have ever seen in action. She managed to sell them more and more bottles of wine through the flight as if they were doing her a favour. It was amazing to watch her in action. I suspect Mr O’Leary would prefer people to spend money on his aeroplanes rather than at the airport!
Yes agree. On the flight back a similar thing happened and the drunk couple had a row about if they’d put baggage in the hold or not. I never did find out what happened.
A friend of mine used a similar kennels service, which delivered the dogs back to various vet practices for their owners to pick up. Except my friend showed up, was presented with a dog and went "erm, that's not my dog." Cue panic as it transpired two dogs had got mixed up and the van had to be summoned back to get them to the right place.
Best post ever. So many good tips and two videos of D M-C (Run DMC). You are spoiling us! And all those pics make me want to jump on the next plane. Though I spent last week on the Isle of Wight "walking" (10,000 steps then pub) which was so heavenly and no airport, just a quick ferry (love ferries). The Isle of Wight is so delightfully old fashioned in a good way, I think.
I want to learn backgammon, I remember it was the last word in chic in the 80s (👵🏻) and I could never understand the rules. I shall buy a set and find a YouTube explanation. Summer sorted.
It's SO good. I never get bored despite having been beaten 899 times last week. And once you have it, really straightforward. Although I suppose one could say that about all games... Thank you re post! And I agree re ferries. Quite romantic, in a way.
I've just this v second ordered a paddling pool from Argos for delivery tomorrow. He LOVES water. Apparently his mum does too. I've sort of given up worrying about my carpets/bedding/sofas etc
Great column including a romance (I’m sure all your readership are quietly wishing you both well). I’ve already screenshotted some of your travel tips for the family WA chat. Thank you!
I’m slightly being tortured by the lack of steps as we holiday (post a wedding) in Florida. I feel as if I’m turning into one of those blobby people in Wall-E. BTW No need to put liquids into the silly plastic bag at Heathrow T3. Victory and victory for less single use plastic. Still 100ml though
Lovely to read your appraisal of Catalunya. I live in Begur which is close to where you were staying. In recent years we have been begining to be somewhat overwhelmed with visitors who undoubetdly feed the local economy but ..... Hey ho - es lo que hay as they say. We do try to keep it a well kept secret but there is so much to appreciate as you know. BTW I think you had arroz negre at Toc Al Mar.

Love your Posts. Always so breezily delightful. 🙂
THANK YOU and I should be clear, or should have been clearer, that I was really using savvy b ironically...
Good save! 😅

Ok PHEW! (Thank you!)

Oh GOOD not just me! Thank you, v comforting. He's now happily asleep against my leg.
As is right and proper!
Me too!

Hahaha no I haven't but on the strength of the above I want to!

I didn't even know about it until I googled Ex Libris yesterday. And v wise.
The link to the Amazon suitcase doesn't work! Help as I definitely need one of these in my life! x
SORRY I managed to post a link from my order profile. Have changed it now! I note it's now £49 but still a bargain I think X
Grand, thanks! x

V good point. And so long as they weren't a nuisance then each to their own, I reckon?!

Oh god that would really have ruined the homecoming yesterday!

Meant to say did you go to Cadaques !
No but I have before and it's gloooooorious!
He looked so happy in his muddy puddle 😄

Ha thank YOU! Hope they help...
Oh, and my parents booked a meet and greet who didn't answer the phone before 6am, but didn't tell them that when they booked a 5am drop off...
Some of them are the PITS. I don't understand why it's not more regulated. Absolute bandits!
I enjoy your writing so much.
THANK YOU ☺️
