Hugely enjoyed the frivolity of the Tatler nonsense. Such a relief in these torrid times. Very helpful warning on Quality Street Christmas chocolate risk. And Dennis in a suitcase, the cherry on the SubStack. Thank you, very cheering to read this morning.

Young Dennis keeping up the adorable streak as ever, and I don't see any reason why you shouldn't post the same images in multiple places. We aren't all on Instagram, after all.

In retrospect it seems obvious this is how such lists are made, but the conversations leading to it must be hilarious. (But who could have guessed that clothes which make a good photo might be less than sexy in actual practice!)

🤣 Love this! The whole bag should be purple, orange (the orange crispy chocolate one and not the cream one), and the green triangles IMO. 🤪 But the caramel is okay too! 😅 I did my bit and voted via absentee ballot. 🤔🤞🏻

Sophia, thanks for the picture of Dennis, and the greatest bits of Lord Flash in Blackadder. It’s good to know Helen is still on the circuit.

The M&S knickers might be your subconscious planning to repel an attack of Trump’s hands, or was it just a “Bridget Jones” moment? Hope Dennis hasn’t made you case more attractive to the drugs doggies at the airport too.

So? after all this, what next? Are you hoping someone puts you in the LBB?????

IF they do, make sure you get a photo of Dennis in with you, it will give you a lead over the other “eligible” contenders on the list.

Looking forward to the next instalment. Watch out for Sarah Smith, the BBC’s North America editor, she has a canny eye on US politics. Sarah’s the best, and a “wee Scots lass” too. (Daughter of John Smith, the former Scottish Labour leader.)

Thank you Sophia - loved your thoughts today - and the photo of Dennis - I would not worry about him forgetting you after 10 days - he will be so happy when you get home. Enjoy your trip - look forward to your views on the doings on the other side of the pond.

The case on the bed is admittedly making me twitch, but Dennis distracts beautifully! I would very much suggest peeling off the baggage barcode stickers though, multiples can set off tech issues. Enjoy the election kerfuffle - it’s akin to watching a slow motion car crash, isn’t it?

Ah I have the same suitcase-on-the-bed thing BUT in this instance it's on the quilt. I would shy away from suitcases on the linen, but don't mind so much on quilts/blankets?! And I did think that about the stickers but was being lazy! X

I just love rich people stuff - it's so alien to me but fascinates me so much. Its comical for sure and I can see now why the likes of Ike thinks the royals are lizards because for me, its hard to believe that these lives even exist

Another great read, thanks

Next Tuesday is the US Presidential Election. But also, of course, Guy Fawkes night, where we commemorate another disaffected man who tried to blow up democracy. Given that during Trumps last tenure I developed low level tic whenever I heard him, I sincerely hope that the Americans come to their senses, and recast him as an effigy to be burnt annually in defence of democracy!

Here in Australia, however, it’ll be Melbourne Cup Day, the race that stops the nation. So we will celebrate the correct way in response to the risk by dressing up, drinking, and having a flutter on the horses.

Have a wonderful time out there Sophia! I've only 'known' you (Via Instagram and now here) for approaching two months but I do know you deserve this break. Enjoy being close to the action! And have a great holiday too Dennis! Xx

Sorry to be a wet blanket but keep an eye on the tropical weather during the excitement next week; some models are showing storm development that may impact that general area. It’s still early. Enjoy the sunsets!!

I’m afraid it’s comfortable pants all the way for me now. Off to buy a copy of the Assassin’s Cloak. Thank you for only mentioning Rivals once 😉. Surely Quality Street could have come up with an environmentally sound way of approximating the old wrappers? Do they not realise what’s at stake here? Finally, those ‘top whatever’ lists have always made me feel like an under achiever, thanks for putting us straight!

Glad you enjoyed the Assassin's Cloak. Had no idea it was re- published, mine was from 2000. May have to put a new one on my Christmas list! Looking forward to your reflections on the event over the pond.

Good morning :) Please, would you mind to tell me where your leopard print dress you wore at the Petworth Festival is from? I would be forever grateful! Thank you so much.

Safe travels!

Ah it was an old favourite from Zara which I sort of wore as an Ab Fab tribute. But Zara quite often has good leopard print so maybe worth a hunt on their website. And thank you! X
